Presenters will include experts from NCASI, DNR representatives and other consulting groups. Speakers will address a variety of environmental and regulatory issues. Attendees will hear regulatory priorities from the head on DNR’s Environmental Management Division, along with other regulatory updates provided by WPC staff. There will also be presentation from DNR regarding its proposed changes to its water antidegradation rules, and what the rules will require if approved by the legislature.
Technical speakers will address a variety of environmental and regulatory issues. Regarding air quality, there will be a technical presentation regarding background contributions of fine particulate matter, which can impact the ability to obtain air construction permits. In addition, there will be a discussion of modeling exceptional events, such as the recent Canadian wildfires, to exclude such events from consideration for regulatory purposes. Furthermore, another topic will include incorporating probabilistic risk methods into air regulations.
Other topics include a review of PFAS analytical methods and a validation study of Method 1633; a discussion of developments regarding wastewater residuals; and activated sludge plant operational methods and minimizing phosphorus effluents.
